The Wharf, Fall 2012

Salmon Arm, British Columbia, may have the most stunning waterfront in the interior of our gorgeous province. The entire lake front here is a bird sanctuary, providing a safe home to dozens of bird species. The city wharf here in Salmon Arm extends nearly 150 meters out into this protected, wetland habitat to reach the deeper waters of the Shuswap Lake. In mid October, with all the houseboats neatly stored away on dry land, I caught this family of otters enjoying the quiet of a brisk fall morning.
